1 of 23
Vehicle Description 1968 base Camaro.
Original, numbers matching engine, transmission and rear end.
327 V8, Saginaw 4 speed, 60845 miles on the clock.
I bought it from the original Tenessee owner in 2000.
Title in hand.
Not a show car in any way, a very solid driver with great bones.
It has its share of nicks, scratches, etc, but it looks great for its age.
The longer story.
I bought this from the original owner in 2000, it had spent its life in Tennessee.
I wanted a project that my kids and I could work on together and it was perfect for that.
Since then it's lived in my pole barn, while we worked to refresh and restore a great old car.
We didn't drive the car much, though it runs and drives fine.
It turns out the kids liked working on it much more than riding in it - kidsgo figure, lol.
We've driven it less than 500 miles in my 21 yrs of ownership.
Car was repainted at some point before I bought it.
The color is very similar to the original.
Here is a rundown of what we replaced/updated/upgraded:
New clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing installed (flywheel resurfaced.
Receipt included) New brake lines, brakes shoes and wheel cylinders (4 wheel drum) New master brake line installed front to rear New American Racing 15 Torque thrust wheels.
New tires (full tread depth, they'll time out before they wear out) Rear lip spoiler (ready to be painted) New plugs, wires and distributor New interior installed, all seats recovered, door panels, headliner all new.
Flowmaster 17104 American Thunder full exhaust.
(Excellent sound, my favorite upgrade) Edelbrock SBC performer kit - Mild cam upgrade, 600 cfm carb, new intake and lifters.
Hooker headers New alternator New Battery Replaced springs with Eibach coils for a mild lowering in front New shocks all around.
2 new rear floor pans, they were stable but had pinhole rust so we replaced/seam sealed them.
Newer carpet (given to me by original owner) Transmission reseal - Nothing was wrong with the trans when I bought it but when I had it apart to replace the clutch I dropped the trans off at the shop for them to inspect and replace anything needed.
They found wear on the fork between 3rd/4th gear so that was replaced.
Outside of that it was in great shape.
They replaced the needed seals, gaskets and O rings and I reinstalled it.
(Detailed receipt included) New transmission mount Extras included with the sale (Pictured):
Front lip spoiler Trunk weather stripping kit New dash pad New A pillar trim New package shelf and jute pad 14 Crager SS wheels MSW ignition All replaced original parts.
Stock intake/exhaust manifolds, springs, carb, intake, air box, cam I also have some nostalgic stuff included from the original owner too - including his bill of sale in '68, his maintenance log up to 60k, and some various insurance cards and yearly Tennessee vehicle registrations.
not worth anything but I thought it was a cool peek back into time.
It been a fun project, but the kids are in college now and don't work on it with me any longer - and my interest in it is not what it used to be.
If I can make some room in the barn and pass it onto someone else to love, I'm happy.
I don't need to sell it, but it's just sitting in my barn gaining value.
It could be doing the same for you.
They're not making any more of them!! Let me know what questions you have.
I'm happy to answer them.
